Effect of calcium and magnesium in S. schenckii binding to Fn. S. schenckii yeast cells were added to Fn-coated microtiter wells (50 μg/ml) in the presence of Ca²⁺ or Mg²⁺ (0.1 or 1 mM) coincubated or not with EDTA or EGTA (5 mM). Unbound cells were removed by washing the plates with PBS-Tween, and the number of bound cells was determined by ELISA at 490 nm.
