Selection of the human postmortem brain samples. Postmortem brain tissue was obtained from sporadic Parkinson’s disease (PD) patients and healthy controls. After genotyping for MAPT haplotype, neuropathological validation, and tissue quality control, suitable samples from two brain regions [cortex of fusiform gyrus (PD-affected region), cortex of cerebellum (unaffected control region)] were allocated in four age- and sex-matched groups, defined by the MAPT haplotype (H1/H1, H2/H2) and disease status (PD, controls)
