(A) The distribution of the 44,119 CAZymes OTUs (%) in different enzyme groups, per forest (A = Andros, P = Parnitha), season (AI, PI = winter; AII, PII = summer) and soil layers (a = surface, b,c = 5–10 cm), and (B) distribution of CAZymes reads and AA2 enzymes in the two forests during winter (I) and summer (II) periods, irrespectively of sampling plot. It is pointed out that results from nested PCR were obtained only from half of the samples (see Supplementary Table S6). The relevant sequences obtained from the DNA pool of 10 species of basidiomycetes with known genomes (BasK) is also shown for comparison purposes.
