Chemical composition, sequence parameters and molecular weight of the alginates used; F M , F G is the fraction of mannuronic (M) and guluronic (G) acid, respectively. The composition and segment frequencies of two mannuronic (MM), guluronic (GG) or mixed (MG) acids were determined by 1HNMR. The mass average molecular weight (M w ) was determined by GPC.
