The tibiotalar joint was analyzed with respect to the talus (shown here from above) divided into a 3 × 3 grid using the principal axes of the joint surface for more detailed distance map and coverage map analyses (Disior Ltd, Bonelogic 1.0, Helsinki, Finland). The medial and lateral ankle joint gutters were also divided into anterior and posterior regions using the principal axes.
