An admission to the neonatal unit after 37 weeks' gestation was considered “unexpected”. Also, preterm birth was defined as birth before recommended by NICE guidelines (eg monochorionic monoamniotic 32 weeks' gestation, monochorionic diamniotic 36 weeks' gestation and dichorionic diamniotic 37 weeks' gestation).
