Geographic coverage of the MIGHTI observations for one day (08 May 2020). The gaps in the tracks are predominantly due to day/night mode changes and the South Atlantic Anomaly (SAA). Every color-coded dot represents an observed wind profile, taken every 30 seconds and every 60 seconds during day and night, respectively. The colors represent the local solar time of the observation. Note that the precession rate of the ICON satellite is approximately 30 minutes per day
