Transient, male-specific responses in AAV9 mediated microglial suppression. Previously undescribed microglial activation was found in the mediodorsal nucleus of the thalamus (A) and submedial nucleus of the thalamus (B) at 12 months of age. Additionally, there was a male specific response in AAV9-mediated reduction of microglial activation at 18 months of age in these two regions, as well as in the previously described VPM/VPL (C).
