aService Groups (SG) overview: Health and Wellbeing SG includes gynaecological, maternity, newborn and children’s services, primary care in community, prisoner health, aged care, and oral health. Medical SG includes specialities and services such as emergency medicine, internal medicine, neurology, infection diseases, endocrinology, repository, gastroenterology, pharmacy and comprehensive cancer services. Mental Health SG provides comprehensive mental health assessment and treatment services including acute inpatient care, crisis intervention and community integration and health rehabilitation, forensic mental health, and case management. Rural Health SG provides public health access (such as emergency, general medicine and general surgery) to the populations of surrounding smaller towns including Ingham, Charters Towers, Ayr and Home Hill. Surgical SG provides perioperative services including surgery, anaesthetics, and theatre care, with diagnostic care including medical imaging. (Source: Townsville HHS Annual Report 2017/2018).
