Effects of 8-aminoguanine in wild-type (WT) Dahl salt-sensitive rats (Dahl SS rats) versus Dahl salt-sensitive rats with knockout of A2B receptors (A2B-KO Dahl SS rats). WT Dahl SS rats (A, C, E) and A2B-KO Dahl SS rats (B, D, F) were placed on a high salt diet (4% NaCl) for 1 week. Next, rats were anesthetized, and timed urine collections were obtained from the ureter from 0 to 30 minutes (min; Period 1), 40 to 70 minutes (Period 2), and 85 to 115 minutes (Period 3) into the protocol. Rats received an IV injection of 8-aminoguanine (33.5 µmol/kg) immediately after Period 1. Urine volumes (A and B) and sodium (C and D) and glucose (E and F) excretion rates were determined. Values are means and SEMs for the indicated sample size (n). *P<0.05 vs Period 1.
