Cytotoxic activity of NK cells. The cytotoxic activity of NK cells was assessed by using purified NK cells from healthy donors as effector cells and K562 cell line as target cells at the indicated effector: target (NK: K562) ratios of 10:1, 5:1, and 1:1. NK cells were mixed with CFSE-labeled K562 for 18h before analysis of CFSE and 7-AAD double positive dead K562 cells by flow cytometry. Cells were incubated with a CaCl2 solution at 3 mM (white circle, left side), conditioned medium from either calcium alginate dressing ALG-CM (grey triangle, middle) or BIA-CM (light grey square, right side) versus control medium (dark circle). Each line links data obtained from the same donor (n=6); Respective control cytotoxic activity at each ratio was used for statistical comparison using Wilcoxon paired test. *p<0.05.
