Endothelial senescence promotes aging-related CVD. Senescent ECs which are occurred during aging process or caused by ROS, chronic low-grade sterile inflammation, L5, excessive calorie and Ras are reported to possess prothrombotic, pro-oxidant, pro-inflammatory, and vasoconstrictor properties. Senescent ECs promote the occurrence of coronary heart disease, systemic metabolism disorder and diabetes mellitus. Senescent ECs exhibit increased NOX2, ICAM-2, VEGFA165b, p53, p21, p16, CCL19, CCL21, IL-1β, IL-6, IL-18, and TNF-α. Meanwhile, decreased eNOS and PGC1-α are observed in senescent ECs.
