Expanded spectra of the 1.22- to 1.14-, 1.1- to 1.02-, and 0.97- to 0.89-ppm regions of 1H NMR spectra of a supernatant cometabolism experiment with P. shermanii after exhaustion of [2-13C]pyruvate and [1-13C]lactate showing the pattern of the methyl group of propionate. The intensities of the spectra on the right and left were multiplied by 4. The coupling constants involved in the splitting are 3J H3–H2 = 8 Hz, 1J 13C3–H2 = 127 Hz, 2J 13C2–H3 = 5 Hz, and 3J 13C1–H3 = 5 Hz.
