Indications for antibiotic treatment in the present study (according to [20, 24])

TP-specific IgG serum antibodies detected by ECLIA		at least one of the following activity criteria
		VDRL or RPR positive
plus	plus	TP-specific IgM positive
TP-specific IgG antibodies confirmed by Western blot (positive or boderline)		CSF pleocytosis (> 4/µl)
		TP-specific AI for IgG or IgM ≥ 1.5	and no previous antibiotic therapy for neurosyphilis
