(A) SIVmac239, (B) SIVB670, and (C) SIVhu CD4+ T cell levels over three generations. CD4+ T cell levels were monitored bimonthly using flow cytometry. The percent of CD4+ T cells is presented relative to that of CD45+/CD3+ cell populations. Statistically significant CD4+ T cell depletion was seen in the third generation of SIVmac239 (p < 0.01) and SIVB670 (p < 0.05) infected hu-HSC mice relative to the uninfected control (two-tailed Student’s t-test).
