(A) SIVmac239, (B) SIV_B670, and (C) SIVhu CD4⁺ T cell levels over three generations. CD4⁺ T cell levels were monitored bimonthly using flow cytometry. The percent of CD4⁺ T cells is presented relative to that of CD45⁺/CD3⁺ cell populations. Statistically significant CD4⁺ T cell depletion was seen in the third generation of SIVmac239 (p < 0.01) and SIV_B670 (p < 0.05) infected hu-HSC mice relative to the uninfected control (two-tailed Student’s t-test).
