Fig. 7. mRNA sequencing of retinal samples shows increased expression of CXCL1 (IL-8 functional homolog) in the hypoxic retina.

Fig. 7

The C57BL/6 mice pups were exposed to 75% oxygen from P7 to P12 and then returned to room air. At P15, eyes from normoxia and 3 days post OIR/hypoxia were enucleated, retinas isolated, and total cellular RNAs were extracted and subjected to mRNA sequencing. a Volcano plot shows the number of genes (represented as yellow dots) that are significantly upregulated or downregulated in the hypoxic retina compared to normoxia. b Heatmap showing the expression profile of CXCL and its related genes in normoxia and hypoxia. c The genes that were significantly upregulated or downregulated in hypoxia compared to normoxia are presented as fold change. d At various periods of relative hypoxia, eyes were enucleated from C57BL/6 mice, retinas were isolated, and total RNA was extracted and analyzed for CXCL1 and GAPDH mRNA levels by QRT-PCR. n = 6 (d) biologically independent samples per group, expressed as Mean ± SD. *P < 0.05 vs normoxia.
