WT and ANC strains both produce carboxysomes at ambient pCO₂. Both strains show multiple carboxysomes per cell, as indicated by white arrows, and carboxysomes exhibit the typical hexagonal shape (55). (C) is the same image as in (B) but enlarged to show that rubisco density seen can be within the carboxysomes of ANC. The dark internal body in (A) is likely a polyphosphate body (57).
