The process of sample recruitment. Criteria: high blood pressure, systolic blood pressure ≥ 130 mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure ≥ 80 mmHg; abnormality of blood glucose, FBG ≥ 5·6 mmol/l and/or HbA1c ≥ 5·6 %; elevated TAG, ≥1·7 mmol/l; elevated TC, ≥5·72 mmol/l; elevated LDL-cholesterol, ≥3·4 mmol/l; decreased HDL-cholesterol, <0·9 mmol/l in men and <1·0 mmol/l in women; hyperuricaemia, serum uric acid ≥416 μmol/l in men and ≥357 μmol/l in women. Fatty liver was confirmed by the ultrasound B model.
