Paired t-test showed significant differences between WMH and NAWM at *P < 0.0001 for all metrics. Specifically, SUVR and FW-adjusted FA were significantly lower and FW higher in WMH compared to NAWM. FA: fractional anisotropy; FW: free water; NAWM: normal appearing white matter; SUVR: standardized uptake value ratio; WMH: white matter hyperintensities.
