(A) Two scenarios of ChP activities following IVH. Upper panels: The ChP responds to blood with acute calcium activation. After 48 hrs, CSF-[K+] increases. With elevated CSF-[K+], NKCC1 activation leads to net flux of ions and osmotically obliged water movement from CSF into ChP, resulting in compensated PHH characterized by mild ventriculomegaly and enhanced CSF clearance capacity.
