Dimerization of f105-557ΔG5 is delayed compared to that of the full-length f105-557, but it can be kinetically enhanced by the antiG3 (αG3) oligonucleotide. (A) The standard dimer inhibition assay was conducted as outlined in Materials and Methods, except that the individual reaction was terminated by chilling on ice at the end of the appropriate incubation times (0, 7.5, 15, 30, and 60 min) until separation on a 5% PA gel. (B) Kinetics of dimerization. The mean values (as percentages) of the dimeric species of the RNA fragments in the presence or absence of the antiG3 oligomer (αG3) were plotted and compared. The standard deviation at each time point is less than 8.0% for at least a duplicate set of reaction mixtures. WT, wild type (f105-557); ΔPal, f105-557ΔPal; ΔG5, f105-557ΔG5.
