The pattern of accumulation of ICP0 after infection with replicating virus is similar to the pattern seen after infection with TOZ. Five hours after infection with wild-type KOS (MOI of 5), ICP0 is demonstrated by immunohistochemistry in the nucleus of nonneuronal cells (B) but is not seen in neurons (arrows, panels A and B). Wild-type KOS infected virtually all the cells in the culture, demonstrated by robust expression of HSV gC in neurons (D).
