Signaling lymphocytic activation molecule-family receptor (SLAMF) 4-SLAMF2 interaction and dichotomous function of SLAMF4. SLAMF4 can affect T cells and natural killer (NK) cells in an activating or inhibiting manner. In the presence of adequate quantities of the adaptor protein SAP on the target cell, the SLAMF4-SLAMF2 interaction promotes NK or T cell activation (A).
