Glucomannans, galactomannans galactoglucomannans, and β-glucans belonging to high-hydration polysaccharides are used for extracellular energy and raw material storage, as well as water retention mechanism in seeds. In turn, arabinoxylans, glucuronoxylans, and xyloglucans stabilize the cell wall through hydrogen-bonding interactions with cellulose and covalent interactions with lignin. Due to their branched structure, they are water-soluble in their native state. Linear mannans are described as seed storage compounds.
