Liver pathology vs. [U–13C3]glycerol metabolism to glutamate or glycine (A) [U–13C3]glycerol metabolism to glutamate was not significantly changed in the liver with steatosis, inflammation or fibrosis. [13C2]Glu at the x-axis is the sum of [2,3–13C2]glutamate and 4,5–13C2]glutamate. (B) According to the appearance of [U–13C2]glycine, [U–13C3]glycerol metabolism to glycine remained unchanged in the liver with steatosis, inflammation or fibrosis. The data from patient 7 was excluded due to a short duration from [U–13C3]glycerol administration to a liver biopsy.
