Table 1.
Examples of standard tabular reporting and summarizing of voxelwise group results after clustering (with the Glasser atlas for reference location; coordinates are in RAI Dicom notation). Clusters are typically summarized by just the location of their peak voxel (left side), or occasionally by their center of mass (right side). In either case, the full extent of the ROI is shrunk to a single location and region, even though it often overlaps with multiple regions. The parenthetical "dist" refers to the distance to the nearest atlas ROI when the reference voxel is not contained in one. Cases are highlighted where the choice of peak or central voxel would lead to different ROI associations (5 out of 11). Reducing cluster extent to a single voxel is a "hiding" approach that loses much useful information and is sensitive to an arbitrary choice of meaningful voxel. This can be contrasted with the more full results reporting of Table 2, which highlights the relative overlap of each cluster.
