Severe sleep fragmentation and sleep architecture disorganization were seen in both patients. Compared with the patient in the control group (A), patients in dexmedetomidine (B) showed decreased sleep stage N1, total arousal index and arousal index of NREM sleep, increased N2 and N3 sleep. N1= stage N1 sleep; N2= stage N2 sleep; N3= stage N3 sleep; R= stage REM sleep; W=wakefulness.
