The relieving effect of naringenin on NodD footprints. Lane 1, free DNA cleavage by DNase I; lane 2, the region protected by NodD on the nodA transcriptional strand in the absence of naringenin. From lane 3 to 5, increasing amounts of naringenin (final concentrations 0.01, 0.1 and 1 mM) were added to the NodD–DNA complex before DNase I digestion.
