Lack of fusarinine-type siderophores (ΔsidF mutant) does not block growth of A. fumigatus under iron limitation in liquid cultures. A total of 108 conidia of Aspergillus fumigatus WT and ΔsidF, ΔsidFΔftrA, ΔsidC, and ΔsidA mutant strains were cultivated in 100 mL AMM both under iron limitation (−Fe) and iron sufficiency (+Fe; 0.03 mM FeSO4) at 37°C for 20 h and shaken at 200 rpm.
