Participants Infants ≤ 32 weeks' gestational age
Interventions Routine gastric aspiration group: routine prefeed aspiration of gastric residuals every 6 hours
No routine gastric residual aspiration group
Outcomes Primary outcome: 
  • time taken to reach full enteral feeds (120 mL/kg/d)


Secondary outcomes: 
  • time taken to reach 150 mL/kg/d; 

  • duration of TPN; 

  • duration of CVL usage; 

  • incidence of sepsis;

  • incidence of NEC; and 

  • weight gain (g/kg/d)
