Start with 5–15 mg/kg every 12 h PO and increase dose gradually to as high as 40 mg/kg every 8–12 h PO if necessary. |
5–30 mg/kg up to three times daily. Start at the low end and titrate up to achieve the desired event, but avoid adverse effects. Dose changes should occur about seven days apart. For short-term treatment to achieve anxiolysis, doses have been as high as 30–60 mg/kg 1–2 h before an event that is anticipated to trigger anxiety in a dog. |
