The figure also shows the main structural components of a neuronal cell. Cortical neurons typically grow a long process (axon) and several shorter processes (dendrites). The axons are identified by their morphology, and the growth cone is located at the tip of the axon. (b) Example of growth for neurons imaged at tculture = 50 h after plating. The image shows a high degree of axonal alignment along the direction x of the micropatterns.
