Human tumors have significant differences in their microenvironment compared to murine tumors, such as the heterogeneity or absence of fenestrations in the tumor endothelium, acidic or hypoxic areas caused by heterogeneous blood flow through tissues, heterogeneous BM and lower pericyte coverage, and elevation of IFP due to higher density of the ECM.
