The liposoluble nature of EOs affects the components involved with hypermucoviscosity phenotype (biofilm, capsule, siderophores, Lipopolysaccharides), which act as a physical barrier for antibiotics. When the hypermucoviscosity phenotype is affected, antibiotics could enter in the bacteria, and in synergy with EOs, induce bacteria death.
