Multilamellar structure of LNP surface layers correlates with the particle size. Correlation between the Lorentz function width of the L_α (A) or H_II (B) signal (shown in log scale to better indicate data distribution) with particle size determined by DLS across the library of 54 LNP formulations. See the Materials and Methods section for derivation of Lorentz function width. The molar percentage of PEG-lipids is colored accordingly. Unstable LNP formulations (with 1% DSPE-C18 PEG_0.55k or 1% DOPE-C18 PEG_0.55k) showing no H_II signal are highlighted by black circles in panel (A) and are excluded from the analysis in panel (B).
