Autophagy occurs in Besnoitia besnoiti-triggered suicidal NETosis. Bovine PMN (n = 3) were exposed to B. besnoiti bradyzoites on coverslips for 1 h at 37°C, 5% CO2. Samples were fixed and thereafter permeabilized for LC3B-based immunostaining in order to determine autophagosome formation by confocal microscopy analysis.
