Lactate production with varying N sources. Lactate production (bars) and final optical density (OD_600, crosses) of O. polymorpha strain overexpressing Lh_LDH cultivated in Verduyn medium with 0.5% MeOH as carbon source and different nitrogen sources. The original Verduyn medium contained (NH₄)₂SO₄ (ammonium sulfate) as N source. As alternative nitrogen sources NH₄NO₃ (ammonium nitrate), yeast extract, peptone and urea were tested. As a control, Verduyn medium without additional N source was included (No N source). Experiments were performed in a System Duetz microtiter plate, in which strains were cultivated for 7 days. Error bars represent the standard deviation of three biological replicates.
