Scheme 1. Identification of the 2′-substituent effect in the IHT reaction. Reactions performed with benzoyl chloride (1.1 equiv.) and Et3N (1.2 equiv.) in CH2Cl2 (0.05 M) at 0 °C to 23 °C for 2 h on a 0.1–0.3 mmol scale. Yields of the isolated product are reported and the ratio of 2-Int and 2 was determined by 1H-NMR.
