Pathology findings in the lungs of a free-ranging common dolphin (Delphinus delphis) with hypertrophic osteopathy. (A) Diffuse parasitic bronchointerstitial pneumonia caused by Halocercus delphini (arrow) was observed. (B) Firm white-gray foci approximately 0.5 cm in diameter (arrows) were observed in tissues fixed in 10% formalin. (C) Parasitic granulomatous bronchointerstitial pneumonia was observed after hematoxyin-eosin staining, and at least seven Halocercus delphini within a bronchiolus were identified.
