Table 2.

Aortic Diameter Upon Repair and Aortic Growth Rate for Five Groups Defined by Aortic Diameter Upon Screening

Aortic Diameter Upon Screening (mm) n AAA Repairs – n Aortic Diameter Upon Repair – Median (IQR) Aortic Growth Rate in mm Per Year – Median (IQR)
25–29 859 5 50 (5.0)* 2.9 (1.2)
30–39 258 16 57 (6.5)** 3.6 (0.9)
40–49 47 28 56 (4.0)*** 4.0 (3.0)
50–54 4 3 56 (4.0) 5.7 (4.7)
≥55 21 21 63 (15.0)
Total 1189 73 57 (6.0) 4.0 (3.3)

Notes: Column headings are stated in bold text. All AAA repairs are included, also ruptures. In the subaneurysm group (aortic diameter 25–29 mm) aortic diameter upon repair was missing for one participant. *Two men received repair with an aortic diameter <55 mm, both had bilateral common iliac artery (CIA) aneurysms where at least one was ≥35 mm. **Three men received repair with an aortic diameter <55 mm, one due to a mycotic contained rupture, one patient insisted on treatment at aortic diameter of 51 mm and one due to bilateral CIA aneurysms where at least one was ≥35 mm. ***Four men received repair with an aortic diameter <55 mm. One had unilateral CIA and internal iliac artery (IIA) aneurysms, three had bilateral CIA aneurysms. Three of four had at least one aneurysm ≥35 mm.
