Estrogen production pathway in women: (A) is the main estrogen production pathway in premenopausal women. LHRH analogues inhibit the action of LHRH on the pituitary gland through competitive binding, thus inhibiting the secretion of estrogen in the ovary. (B) is the main estrogen production pathway in postmenopausal women. Aromatase inhibitors bind to androgens and prevent their conversion to estrogen.
