GUS activity in P. syringae pv. syringae FF5 subjected to heat shock (temperature shift from 30 to 50°C). Prior to GUS assays, all strains were grown at 30°C as described in Fig. 5. The bacteria were incubated at 30°C until the concentration had an A₆₀₀ of 0.5 and were then exposed to heat shock by rapid transfer to 50°C. palgTA and pBBR.Gus are described in Fig. 5. Values represent the mean from one experiment containing three replicates, and the experiment was repeated with similar results. Treatments accompanied by the same lowercase letter were not significantly different at a P of 0.01 as determined by Duncan’s multiple-range test.
