Murine cDNA sequences obtained from whole skin,
dispase-separated epidermis, and cultured keratinocytes were compared
with established cDNA sequences from the consensus cryptdin gene and
the cryptdin-1, -2, -3, -5, and -6 isoforms. Nucleotides are numbered
from the first residue of the initiating methionine codon. An X in the
consensus sequence indicates a position at which at least two sequences
contain nucleotide substitutions. Coding sequences are indicated with
uppercase letters, while untranslated sequences are indicated with
lowercase letters. The junction between exon 1 and exon 2 is also
indicated.
