Table 1.
Variable | Control | VaD |
---|---|---|
Number | 9 | 10 |
Age | 82 (69–94) | 84 (72–98) |
Male sex, n (%) | 3 (30) | 4 (40) |
Post-mortem delay (h) | 36 (24–44.25) | 34 (20–54) |
Brain weight (g) | 1,197 (1,032–1,345) | 1,220 (1,060–1,460) |
Water content (%) | 81.3 (79.8–83.8) | 81.4 (77.5–84.2) |
Wet-wt/dry-wt | 5.57 (4.94–6.23) | 5.67 (4.91–6.42) |
Values are age, post-mortem delay, brain weight, and water content, mean (range); wet-wt/dry-wt ratio, mean (±95% CI) averaged across all samples. After the control with renal failure was removed, the cohort no longer contained the same number of males per group. All other differences were non-significant.
