Sociodemographic variables were obtained from Statistics Sweden whereas hospitalizations (used to calculate the Charlson comorbidity index) were obtained from the National Board of Health and Welfare. Sociodemographic variables refer to 2015; hospitalizations between 2001 and 2015 were used. Blood pressure (BP), NT-proBNP, and atrial fibrillation (AF) were determined at the screening.
