Cells were grouped based on the amount of time spent in the CDK2low state (see Supplementary Fig. 7b). The Etoposide condition is data from Fig. 4. For the hydrogen peroxide condition, cells were treated for 2 h with 100 μM H2O2 in OptiMEM before being washed twice and immediately filmed for 4d. The marker intensities in each group (see Supplementary Fig. 7a) were averaged, scaled between 0 and 1, and each box was colored accordingly. This reveals a gradual, monotonic change in each marker signal as a function of the duration of cell-cycle withdrawal.
