Drought stress is initially detected at the plasma membrane; subsequently followed by the influx of receptors, i.e., Ca 2+, ROS, Phytohormones, the initiation of protein kinase cascades, and protein cascade-driven up/downstream regulation generate gene expressions that assist drought tolerance. Here, “↑” indicates enhanced activity, and “↓” shows diminished activity.
