1 August 2023 New citation required and conclusions have changed We found beneficial evidence for intensive glucose control for cardiovascular events. Intensive perioperative glucose control slightly raised the risk of hypoglycaemic and severe hypoglycaemic episodes. There is high‐certainty evidence that more stringent perioperative glycaemic control results in little or no difference in overall mortality in people with diabetes undergoing surgery.
