Schematic of AquaROS disinfection device. A 4 × 6-inch plastic chamber was outfitted with a bundle of three capillary sprayers, in which each consisted of a fused-silica capillary for water flow that extended ~3 mm from the outlet of a stainless-steel tube used for the delivery of a nebulizing gas. The outlets of the capillaries were flush with each other and positioned 9 cm from the surface of the stainless-steel disc inoculated with bacteria sample. The chamber was outfitted with a 0.2-μm particulate filter. Microdroplet spray was aligned over the sample disc.
