Table 2.

Frequency distribution of neurodegenerative patterns across clinical groups.

Neurodegeneration Patterns α-synuclein related
Atypical patterns
DLB-like MSA-like Typical PD-like AD-like FTD-like CBD-like
iRBD (N = 51) 31 5 15** 0 0 0
PD-LDR (N = 28) 0 0 28 0 0 0
PD-HDR (N = 16) 7 0 1 5 2 1
DLB (N = 67) 61 0 0 5 0 1
MSA (N = 11) 0 11 0 0 0 0

N = numbers; DLB: Dementia with Lewy Bodies; MSA: Multiple System Atrophy; PD: Parkinson's disease; PD-LDR: PD with low risk of dementia; PD-HDR: PD with high risk of dementia; iRBD: isolated REM sleep behaviour disorder; AD: Alzheimer's disease; FTD: Frontotemporal Dementia; CBD: Corticobasal degeneration.

*15 iRBD showed almost negative SPM single-subject maps. For classification purposes, we included the negative scan under the typical PD-like definition considering the strong topographical similarity. Of course, we cannot exclude the absence of neurodegenerative diseases for iRBD patients see discussion.
